Transposition
New key, reading clef, accidentals
Original: C major
Transposed down a perfect fifth : F major
Reading at sight: imagine the mezzo-soprano clef (C, 2nd line) and the key signature of F major
The notes stay in the same place as in the original: only the clef (and key signature) changes. The clef gives the right name; the actual octave is adjusted afterward.
- New key signature
- 1 flat: B♭
- Accidentals
- Rule 2: 1 more lowering accidental; accidentals written before B are played a chromatic half step lower.
